Happy Valentine’s Day!

The color red is just so striking. The vibrance, the depth, the power –  quite the befitting hue for love.

Love defined – There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.

Heart health

Per the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), along with Valentine’s Day, February marks American Heart Month. Therefore, this month is no better time to commit to a healthy lifestyle.

Fact of the Day – heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women. While Americans of all backgrounds can be at risk for heart disease, African American men, especially those who live in the southeast region of the United States, are at the highest risk for heart disease.1

Taking small measurable steps, such as incorporating exercise and healthy eating habits can substantially improve health outcomes.

Just as the physical heart is a vital organ to the natural body, a well-preserved spiritual heart is crucial to the spiritual body. Proverbs 4:23 states, keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. This is clear instruction to care for our heart as a treasured possession for from it life flourishes. With any jewel, direct access is only intended for a trusted few and at all times must be handled with care. Always be mindful that even at moments of disappointment, there is beauty in having direct access to submit our emotions, feelings and even wounds to the Lord through prayer. It’s a comfort that chocolate can’t begin to provide.

There is no more appropriate time to share my sincere expression of ❤ through February’s garment highlight featuring my mom’s 80’s red velvet vintage dress and matching bolero jacket. A classic dress, from the women that is the absolute definition of style and grace.

My heart to yours,

Candice
